HBO Girls

One of the most relatable shows I have watched lately is without a doubt HBO’s Girls. This show depicts the live of four twenty something girls living in New York who are trying to find their place in the world and make sense of their lives. When reading this, you would instantly think it is a new version of Sex and the City, but nothing could be more contrary. There is no glamour in the lives of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Soshanna, no walk-in closets filled with designer dresses or Manolo Blahniks, no fancy dinners, successful careers and also no Mr. Big. No, in Girls it is all about difficult friendships and boyfriends, very awkward sex, being broke, drugs, being insecure about yourself, sexual diseases, unpaid internships or having no job at all. I like this show because it is so real and being a twenty five year old myself, I am sure many girls my age can relate to these girls and what they have been through.

It is definitely worth a watch, even though I must admit I like the first season better than the second one.  Three other reasons why you should watch Girls:

1. The soundtrack. In every episode there is at least one song you will most likely enjoy listening to. Think: Fleet Foxes, Belle & Sebastian and Santigold.

2. Adam Driver, who plays the main character Hannah’s (Lena Dunham) strange and most of the time shirtless boyfriend is pret-tay awesome.

3. Even Vogue thinks Girls is Great. They met up with the cast of Girls and created the video below, which might increase you’re curiosity towards the show.

H&M brought us COS before, Weekday and Monki. Yesterday marked the launch of H&M’s new line & Other Stories. This new high street label offers a varied collection of fashion, shoes, bags, lingerie, jewelry and even skincare products and make-up. The highly minimalistic collection is not inspired by the latest fashion trends from the runway. The designers as a matter of fact looked at the impact of social media on fashion, street style and fashion blogs and used these factors as inspiration for & Other Stories. They believe that women nowadays create their own “stories” when it comes to fashion and personal style.

Also, the line is supposed to have higher quality than H&M and has more variety and is less “grown up” than COS. The price tags are – quite unfortunate for our wallets – more similar to COS.

Of course I could not help myself to take a look on their website and choose some of my favorite items. Obviously, I felt the need to share.

I have always had a thing for silent films. So when I heard about this Public Garden film from Chanel, directed by Karl Lagerfeld and shot in the beautiful gardens of museum Rodin in Paris, it immeadiately caught my interest. The entire Spring/Summer 2013 collection of Chanel’s ‘A1’ line is shown in a beautiful way.

The details:

Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat on the back of the little boy’s hoodie

– The amazing eyeliner worn by models Lindsey Wixon and Stef van der Laan

– The sandles. Do I need to say more?
